Manuscripts, one of the essential resources of our cultural history, are among the most precious treasures of our libraries, which are carried over from one generation to the other. These works of art that constitute our nation's culture and knowledge are a major cultural heritage setting a bridge between the past and the future. Manuscripts, common heritage of the mankind, are the most reliable resources in scientific, artistic and cultural research.
In order to reveal these precious works we inherited from our ancestors and to use them for the sake of scientific studies, manuscripts that are included and published in the Collected Catalogue of Manuscripts of Turkey and National Library Manuscript Catalogues, together with some of those, the catalogues of which havent been published so far, have been transferred into computerized environment. Our purpose is to contribute to scientific studies and help the researchers who are to work in this field.
Thanks to this CD-ROM, the world of science has had a new reference source. Approximately 208561 manuscripts/periodicals, of which the bibliographical identities were identified based on scientific inputs, have been introduced.
When a manuscript/periodical is introduced, name of the work; name of the author (commentator, translator, collector, writer); fixture number; general topic title; date of transcriber, copyright or production; and location, language, internal and external size; number of pages and lines; type of paper; the collection which it belongs to, together with its features of illumination and volume are all indicated.
